Texas ESA Program Launches in 2026

What It Means for Vanguard Families
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, Texas will roll out its first statewide Education Savings Account (ESA) program, giving families the ability to direct state education funds toward approved private school tuition and other educational needs.
At Vanguard Preparatory School, we understand that every learner is unique. This new ESA initiative means more families will have access to the therapeutic and individualized academic program that Vanguard provides.
What is the Texas ESA Program?
The ESA program, also called the Texas Education Freedom Account, provides state-funded accounts for families who wish to pursue education outside of their assigned public school. Funds can be used for:
- Private school tuition (including Vanguard)
- Instructional materials
- Tutoring and educational therapies
- Technology and transportation support
- And more
And more
How Much Funding is Available?
Eligible families may receive approximately $10,000–$10,800 per student annually. For students with disabilities, the amount could reach up to $30,000, providing critical resources for specialized support services and placements like Vanguard.
Who is Eligible?
Any Texas K12 student who would be eligible to attend public school may apply. The program will open for applications on February 4, 2026, with funding starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
