Chris Cousins

Chris Cousins is a born and raised Dallas native. After graduating from the Greenhill School, just down the road from Vanguard, Chris went to Southern Methodist University. At SMU, he earned a B.A. in Art History.

Chris spent 10 years as a Special Education teacher in Richardson ISD and Dallas ISD. He worked with elementary and middle school children in all academic subjects, including 2 years in a self-contained autism class. This experience helped cement Chris’s desire to foster and expand the learning opportunities of all students.

Charity Graham

Charity joined the Vanguard family in October 2016.  After several years in the corporate world, she decided to go back to school for her first love, teaching.  She earned her Bachelors Degree in elementary education from Liberty University.  Charity considers working with children to be a privilege and joy, and marvels at the magic that happens in the classroom everyday.

Gabrielle Grant

Gabrielle (Gabby) is from Atlanta, Georgia but has lived in Texas for over eighteen years. She attended Texas State University in San Marcos where she majored in Political Science and minored in Diversity Studies. She is continuing her passion for education by pursuing her teaching certification. Gabby has a passion for working with children and adults who have physical and mental health challenges and it gives her immense joy to help others reach their academic and personal goals.

Beth Kellen

Beth Kellen has a Bachelors of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and is certified to teach grades 1-6. Her specialization is Reading. She is in her fifth year of teaching.

Beth’s passions are STEM projects, community gardening, and thorough integration of technology into the school day.

As a Mom of three children, Beth understands the home- to-school connection. She loves to keep Vanguard families involved. Her overarching philosophy in the classroom is meet children where they are and help them grow, work in conjunction with therapists to facilitate positive change, and celebrate everyday victories.

Michael Powers

Michael (Mikey) Powers has an undergraduate degree in Christian Studies with a minor in Spanish from Dallas Baptist University. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in professional counseling at the University of North Texas with emphasis in children and adolescents. Mikey joined Vanguard in 2017 as an after school program coordinator and resident coordinator for the 18+ transitional house. In 2018, he transitioned from the after school program to an elementary school teaching assistant. He finds great joy in working with the staff and students at Vanguard and in creating a positive, comfortable, and fun learning environment!

Devin Warren

Devin Warren graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s in Social Work and a minor in Family Studies and Child Development. Devin loves working at Vanguard as the lead Pre-K teacher and has over 15 years of experience working with this age group. She has a passion for working with children and strives to provide a safe, loving environment for the children in her class. When Devin is not teaching, she loves spending time with her four children and husband.
